NEWS
The Miami Dolphins have traded veteran wide receiver Greg Camarillo to the Minnesota Vikings for cornerback Benny Sapp.
The wideout returned from a torn ACL to catch more than 100 passes for over 1,200 yards and two touchdowns over the past two seasons.
Despite not possessing game-breaking speed, he did not drop a pass last season and is a good red zone target.
The Dolphins have two second-year players starting at cornerback, so Sapp will add more depth. (Read More…)

The Miami Dolphins have signed veteran defensive end Marques Douglas to a two-year contract worth $2.5 million.
Douglas made a name for himself as a reserve and later as a starter for the Baltimore Ravens vaunted defense and then left with Mike Nolan for San Francisco.
The Dolphins were forced to make some type of move to replace defensive end Phillip Merling, who is out for the season with a torn Achilles tendon.
Douglas started 12 games for the New York Jets last season, making him a significant part of the NFL’s No. 1 rated defense. (Read More…)

Miami Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder is expected to miss the entire 2010 season.
Crowder suffered a foot injury last year but had finally been able to return to offseason practices.
The linebacker has since suffered another foot injury, setting him back yet again.
Crowder started at least 10 games every season since 2005, but healthy has been an issue of late.
Tim Dobbins is the team’s top linebacker backup and will likely start in place of Crowder.

Some of the praise has come from the team’s owner, who made some bold statements about how good he can be.

Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is competing in a division that has a lot of big ego’s, but so does he.
Ross recently said that he expects his team will be playing in this year’s Super Bowl, which is quite a leap of faith.
The owner said he isn’t putting any more pressure on head coach Tony Sparano, who happens to agree with him.
It would be quite an accomplishment if the Dolphins were able to win their own division, let alone the Super Bowl.
Ross went on to say that he hopes Chad Henne goes down as the best quarterback in Dolphins history, which may have been even more over-the-top than his Super Bowl talk.

The Miami Dolphins are taking it easy with quarterback Chad Pennington as he returns from shoulder surgery.
Pennington admits his future is cloudy with the Dolphins with Chad Henne and Pat White on the roster.
Henne has clearly established himself as the team’s starter while White is a solid backup.
Then there is Tyler Thigpen, who is another young quarterback who is fighting for a roster spot.
Pennington said he doesn’t mind standing on the sidelines watching practice because August is when things will get competitive.

Linebacker Zach Thomas signed a one-day contract so that he could retire with the Miami Dolphins.
The contract was worth just $1 dollar, but it meant so much more than that to the linebacker.
Thomas played 12 seasons with the Dolphins after being just a fifth-round pick out of college.
He was one of the top linebackers in the NFL during much of his time in the league, measuring himself against greats like Ray Lewis.
He was one of the biggest faces of the franchise and helped the Dolphins reach the postseason a number of times.

Miami Dolphins veteran Will Allen is making the switch this year from cornerback to safety.
Allen is coming off of ACL surgery and is competing for the starting cornerback jobs with two young, promising players.
He knows it is unlikely he can beat either of them out, so he has made it known he is willing to switch positions.
Allen is likely concerned he could end up being a salary cap casualty later this summer and find himself out of a job.
The veteran said he just loves playing football, so he is willing to do whatever it takes to be out on the field as much as possible.

New Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall was not among those participating in a voluntary workout.
Marshall was out for undisclosed injury reasons and spent his time riding a stationary bike in the end zone.
The wide receiver spent much of his time gazing out at the field and trying to pick up some of the offense.
Marshall said it was frustrating not to be out on the field with his teammates, but that he has no reason to rush out there.
Miami is certainly excited about getting Marshall out there working with quarterback Chad Henne as soon as possible.
